Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction which came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. Various modern utilitarian objects such as computer keyboards and electric guitars have been reimplemented by individual craftpersons in a pseudo-Victorian mechanical “steampunk” style.
