Why Japan is a Weird Country…

April 17th, 2008 (Posted by Ryan)

This year’s Japanese Phallic Festival (yes, yes, you read it correctly :) ) took place in Kawasaki, south of Tokyo and it gathered more than 30,000 worshipers who praised the sexuality gods and asked for protection from sexually transmitted diseases. Hmm…what a weird festival, isn’t it?

Tokyo - The Twilight Zone

April 7th, 2008 (Posted by Ryan)

Here are some very beautiful shots of Tokyo at twilight as seen by a famous Japanese photographer Sato Shintaro. That’s what Mr. Shintaro writes on his page about these photos: “I take photographs of Tokyo townscape from emergency staircase of multi-tenant buildings and of apartment houses. Most of staircases are facing back streets, and it is interesting that the other side of Tokyo appears there. Townscape in the twilight looked from staircases, to which no one reaches as if it has slipped from everyday life, has so erotic appeal that I am fascinated by townscapes every time when I take photographs. I become aware that I do not know anything about the town in fact, although I always look at Tokyo townscape.” (Source)
